Rise Up Residential creates affordable housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, with a focused commitment to addressing economic homelessness. Addressing a hidden crisis—families and individuals one paycheck away from losing their housing, we develop small-scale, community-based housing that offers stability, dignity, and a permanent path forward.
We are a nonprofit affordable housing developer specializing in light-touch infill development. Leveraging base zoning and Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) laws, we focus on preserving existing affordable housing while efficiently developing new, cost-effective housing solutions. We emphasize neighborhood integration through a scattered-site portfolio, fostering sustainable communities and providing enhanced tenant support.
Our homes help working families and individuals avoid homelessness by offering permanent, affordable housing—not just temporary shelter. Each Rise Up Home houses local families at 30–60% AMI, with ongoing operations funded through rent—not subsidies
The J Street Affordable Housing Project, in the Grant Hill neighborhood, was developed in partnership with the RTFH. This project, with an R1 designation, PRESERVED 11 units of naturally occurring affordable housing and will be adding 12 more units for a total of 23 affordable housing units, all between 30% and 50% of AMI. The project is developed at a per unit cost of $161,000 including acquisition and construction.
It features a playground for community residents, as well as on-site laundry, 24/7 property management and offers enhanced tenant services to all residents, regardless of where they are in their housing journey.
